Teaching your maths lesson

One Teaching File per year. Arranged by topic, the Teaching File provides:

  • a broad range of interactive teaching activities
  • a carefully structured progression through each topic
  • a balance of practical and oral work.

 

Pupil Practice

Activity Books (SHM1-4) provide

  • encourage the practice
  • encourage consolidation of skills.

 

Textbooks (SHM3-7) provide

  • opportunities to exercise skills and techniques
  • ideal for problem solving activities.

 

Extension Textbooks (SHM3-7)

SHM7

SHM7 covers most of of Level E, with motivating, age-appropriate pupil practice, and comprehensive support for planning, teaching and assessment.

  • The Organising and Planning Guide provides all the support you need to implement SHM and to plan your maths lessons
  • The Teaching File provides support for medium and short-term planning  
  • The Scottish Programme of Study for Maths is a flexible electronic means to help you plan your lessons. It is referenced to SHM and to a range of supplementary maths resources. It also provides editable tests and record sheets.
   

Interactive mental activities

The Teaching File includes lively oral and mental activities to start each lesson.

  • Round-ups provide assessment according to 5-14 Attainment Targets for end of term or end of levels
