Fast Phonics First Accessibility Statement

Accessibility Statement

Fast Phonics First has been designed primarily for use with an interactive whiteboard. It is also usable on PC and Mac desktops and laptops, but is not necessarily compatible with Assistive Technologies except where noted.

Accessibility Features:

  • The colour palette has been carefully selected to achieve a high-contrast across all activities to aid readability. In addition to this, the prominent background 'blue' has been chosen to reduce eye fatigue. The design is intended to suit the needs of low colour-vision users.
  • Information is not conveyed using colour alone, meaning the design is suitable for colour-blind users.
  • Audio can be controlled and muted throughout the application.
  • Text alternatives in PDF format are available for additional content such as the worksheets. Use Acrobat's built-in accessibility features (such as high contrast mode) to present this material to users with particular additional support needs. See the Acrobat website for further details on accessibility and PDFs.
  • Users may additionally construct their own accessible versions of the worksheets by copying and pasting text out of the PDFs.
  • All the resources within the software are also provided in a form which supports personalisation. Blank worksheets are supplied as Word templates along with a bank of clipart. This allows teachers to set up differentiated tasks and support the needs of individual users.
  • Pupil controls are positioned along the bottom of the screen for easy access.
  • Assets and text are optimally sized to ensure clear viewing from the back of the classroom.

Fast Phonics First does not support the following accessibility features:

  • Screen readers
  • Braille output
  • Keyboard navigation
