Frequently asked questions

When can I use these books?

Pocket Reads are Independent Readers, and can be used for silent reading within the classroom or as take home reading. With attractive designs and content to motivate all children, there are plenty of Pocket Reads for children to choose from.

What support is there for teachers, parents or carers?

On the inside front cover of every book there is a set of questions for use after reading. These comprehension questions, writing activities and non-fiction research activities mean that every reading session is meaningful. Then there is a NLS genre and objective link inside every book as well!

Why are the books pocket-sized?

The Pocket Reads are a really popular and fun format. The text is long enough to build enjoyment and fluency, but not too long to put children off!

How will I know which book to choose for a certain child?

You can always find a book at the right level for a child because National Curriculum levels are found on the back of every book. There is a range of levels within a year (e.g. 2C, 2B, 2A) as well as progression across the years (2C to 4C). This ensures that children can work through the programme, becoming more confident and fluent readers.
