Important:

The Interactive Planner MUST have been installed first, before the Interactive Teaching Resources are attempted to be installed.

PC Network Install:

If you wish to install more than one CD in the series for the I-Planner and ITR, please ensure the same installation type and location are selected.

Step 1: Easiteach Installation:

This installation must be implemented straight onto the server and not through a client machine. Easiteach player will be installed onto the server. This can be uninstalled separately in add/remove programs.

1. Start the computer, and ensure that no other software is running.

2. Ensure you have installed I-Planner. It is essential that I-Planner is installed before the Interactive Teaching Resources software is installed.

3. Insert the Interactive Teaching Resources CD into the CD-ROM drive.

4. The installation sequence should start automatically – follow the on-screen instructions.
If the sequence does not start automatically:

  • Double-click on the 'My Computer' icon on the Windows desktop, then right-click on the CD-ROM drive icon and select 'Open'.
  • Double-click on the file 'setup.exe' and follow the on-screen instructions.

5. Easiteach Player will now install (into a default location at C:\Program Files\Research Machines\Easiteach). This will take a few minutes, depending on the speed of your PC.

Note: In some versions of Windows, you may be prompted to re-start your PC at the end of Step 1, when the Easiteach installer has finished. In this case, click 'No' or 'Cancel' to allow the Interactive Teaching Resources installer to continue. You can then re-start your machine at the end of Step 2.

Step 2: Interactive Teaching Resources Content Installation:

1. Insert the CD into the server CD-ROM drive that has full network access. (Note - this installation must be implemented straight onto the server and not through a client machine).

2. Choose the installation type for Interactive Teaching Resources

For both the multi-user (local) and the multi-user (network) copy of the software, you will be asked to insert a serial code. You will find this code on the multi-user/network licence which is in the DVD box with this CD. If for some reason you cannot find your licence, then call our helpline on 01865 888005. You will be given two options for your installation of the content files:

(a) Multi-user / full install (local)
(b) Multi-user / full install (network)

3. When you accept the licence agreement, the content will automatically install to the network.

(a) Multi-user / full install (local):
This installs all the files from the CD onto your local hard drive

1. You will need to insert your serial code (see your multi-user/network licence).

2. When you accept the terms of the licence agreement, the software will automatically install.

(b) Multi-user / full install (network):
This installs all the files from the CD onto your network. There are 2 parts to this installation.

Part 2: Client Install

Easiteach MUST be installed onto the client machine in order for the ITR to work.

Note: It is essential that Part 2 network installation is done via a mapped drive (e.g. G:\), not via a network UNC path (e.g. \\server\folder). For technical reasons, using a UNC path will mean that some content will fail to work properly.

4. You then need to install shortcuts to the networked content on each client machine from which you want to run the software.

5. At the first client machine, use Windows Explorer to find the location on the network where the software is installed (you do not need the CD).

6. Locate the client install file for Easiteach and run this on the machine first.

7. Double-click on the 'client install' file and launch the ITR client install, follow the on-screen instructions. This will install folder shortcuts to the networked Interactive Teaching Resources content files.

8. On each subsequent client machine, browse the network to find the same 'client install' file. Double-click this file to install both Easiteach Player and shortcuts to the networked content on the client machine.

Note: If you have multiple CDs from Interactive Teaching Resources installed on your network, the client installer needs to be run only once from each client machine - each client will then be able to access all the Interactive Teaching Resources content you have installed on the network, providing it has all been installed to the same network location.
