Please read before you proceed with the installation of Hair and Beauty Software:

The installation instructions provided below are intended as general guidance and do not aim to provide detailed technical information. Some systems may not operate in exactly the same way, but the basic process remains the same. If in doubt, please consult your network administrator and/or technical support documentation.

All drive letters below are used as examples; drive letters on your system may vary. Ensure that all folders used for installing the software have sharing and permissions enabled (see 'installation overview' file in the ReadMe folder).

For all installs

1. Insert the CD into your CD-ROM drive, the CD-ROM should run automatically.
2. On the opening screen there are several options, select Install and follow the on-screen instructions. (NB if you have already accessed the opening screen,but did not install the software, the software will auto-install.)
3. Easiteach Player will now install on your PC. (NOTE: in some versions of Microsoft® Windows®, you may be prompted to re-start your PC after Easiteach Player is installed. In this case, click 'No' or 'Cancel' to allow the Heinemann installer to continue. You can restart your machine at the end of the installation process.)
If your PC does not support autorun:
4. Go to My Computer and double-click on your CD-ROM drive.
5. The CD-ROM should run.
If it does not run, but instead displays a list of the files on the CD-ROM:
6. Double-click on the file default.htm
7. On the opening screen there are several options, select Install and follow the on-screen instructions.
8. Easiteach Player will now install on your PC.

Run from CD

1. Follow the instructions given in the 'For all installs section'
2. Once Easiteach Player has installed the Heinemann installer will automatically run.
3. When the installation options screen appears, select which version of the install you require, and follow the on-screen instructions. The software will install.

Network Install

Ensure that the network location you are using is mapped as a drive on the local machine.

Part 1: Network install
The network installation is in two parts. the first part installs all the files from the CD-ROM onto your network.
1. Follow the instructions in the 'For all installs section'

2. Once Easiteach Player has installed the Heinemann installer will automatically run.

3. When the installation options screen appears, select Network install.

4. When prompted, select the network location where you would like the content of the CD-ROM to be located. (Ensure that you make a note of this location). Please note the client installation must be run via a mapped drive.

5. Follow the on-screen instructions, the software will be installed to the selected location.
(Note: On the server, Easiteach will only open in demonstration mode)

Part 2: Client install
The second part installs shortcuts to the networked content on each client machine from which you want to run the software.

Please note the client installation must be run from a mapped drive, if this is neglected you may lose some functionality in Easiteach, such as the ability to play audio files.

1. On each client machine, browse to where the content is located on the network and map a drive to it.

2. Double-click on the 'client install' msi file and follow the on-screen instructions.

RM CC3 Install

1. Log on to a clean build workstation as a system administrator.
2. Insert the product CD-ROM in the drive of the workstation. It will probably autorun. If it does, click on 'Cancel' to abort the installation.
3. Explore the CD and navigate to [CD Drive]:\program files\Heinemann\hairandbeauty\Easiteach.
4. The Easiteach.msi file supplied at this level can be used as a package to deliver to client machines.
5. In 'Q:\Applications' create a suitable folder - i.e. 'Easiteach Player'.
6. Copy the Easiteach.msi file to this location along with any files and folders at the same level on the CD-ROM.
7. The package can then be distributed to any machines requiring it.

To install the Hair and Beauty content:
8. Run the top level 'setup.exe' on a client machine that has had the Easiteach Player package installed.
9. The installer will detect the presence of the player and will default to the content installation.
10. Carry out a 'Network installation' of the content and install to a suitable location on the CC3 server - i.e. the 'P' drive.
11. Create a shortcut to the 'hb_contents.et' file that is installed on the 'P' drive and place the shortcut in the Shortcut Bank.
12. On any client machine that are going to be used for running hairandbeauty, use the hairandbeauty - Client Install.msi from the installation on the 'P' drive to directly install the necessary components on the client machine.
13. Use 'Program Sets in the Management console to allocate the shortcut to a suitable program set and allocate it to the users who require it.
