Heinemann launches typeface collection to help early readers

Oxford, 25 September 2007 - Leading educational publisher Heinemann has produced its own typeface specially designed to help young children learn to read. The fonts were researched and developed in partnership with children, literacy advisers and primary school teachers, including special needs educators, over an eight year period.

New maths teaching resource relies on simple strategies for mental calculation

Oxford, 6 September 2007 – Two independent research papers published this summer into how primary schoolchildren can perform better in mathematics have strongly supported the simple 'empty number line' strategy for teaching maths, particularly to lower-attaining children. Harcourt, the publisher of the UK's only commercial maths resource to adopt the empty number line approach, strongly supports the findings.
